Despite recent press reports, Essar Energy PLC denies any plans to close its Stanlow refinery. The refinery’s location and integration into transportation logistics make it well positioned to supply the UK’s fuel demand. Recent upgrading work will help optimize product output.
In a statement, Essar said that it had embarked on a $100M cost improvement program to ensure the plant could survive a period of “exceptionally poor” refining margins.
